I stayed at Sokha hotel for a weeks, and i feels so happy. The location near by the Angkor Museum, is just 5 minute walking to get there. The market just opposit from the hotel. If you looking for a local card, just walk 3 minute to smart shop. Near by Lucky mall, Koulen Restaurant, Pub street, Night Market and many more. If you lazy to walk, u can take tuktuk also for $2. They are always stand by in front of hotel. Im happy to spent a time here with a big pool and nice food.
I had very low expectations coming to Cambodia when it came to accommodations. I booked this place with very little research. Come to find out they were not even open when I booked it. They have only been open for 2 weeks.
We walked in and our mouth dropped open. The lobby is grand and beautiful. Amazing wood work and native art. The rooms are spacious and well done. Amazing bathroom! The staff has been amazing. I spoke at length with the general manager Hang tonight. He is doing a great job at instilling a 5 star mentality to the staff.
Pros: 1. Pool! It is a Vegas style pool. Huge movie screen on top and the pool area is well designed and the water is warm. 2. Pizza. No really. The pizza
here is great. One of the best that I have had. 3. Staff. They are very friendly and laugh very easily. I needed something printed. I emailed it to them and by the time I got the desk it was printed and in an envelop. I did complain about our neighbors noise level. That was immediately taken care of.
Things to think about: 1. They will help you set up tours, Tuk Tuks and cars. If you like your driver or guide you more than likely not going to have them the next day. Being new I was unsure if that was a scam even though I was told I would get the same person. I then learned they all alternate days of work. Driving one day and working the temples the next day. All three that we had were great and did not have any issues. 2. The property is not in downtown Siem Reap. There is a local street market at night for local food. But the beer pubs are a few km's away. Not a problem for us. We liked being a bit more secluded.
I highly recommend this resort and I will check out some of their other properties in the future!
