Problem Gambling
Gambling is a form of entertainment, but can quickly become a serious problem when it becomes an addiction.

How to determine if you have a gambling problem
Start by asking yourself the following questions:

  • You have often gambled longer than you had planned
  • You have often gambled until your last dollar was gone
  • Thoughts of gambling have caused you to lose sleep
  • You have used your income or savings to gamble while letting bills go unpaid
  • You have made repeated, unsuccessful attempts to stop gambling
  • You have broken the law or considered breaking the law to finance your gambling
  • You have borrowed money to finance your gambling
  • You have felt depressed or suicidal because of your gambling losses
  • You have been remorseful after gambling
  • You have gambled to get money to meet your financial obligations

If you have answered YES to any of the above questions, then you may have a gambling problem.

Baccarat

Baccarat, traditionally the grandest of all casino games, is simple to master and easy to play. Those participating in the game place a wager either on the BANKER or the PLAYER. Two hands, of two cards each, are dealt. Later, a third card may be required for either hand.

The first hand represents those betting on the PLAYER, the other betting on the BANKER. The winning hand is the one which total is closest to 9. Tens, cards totaling ten, or picture cards count as nothing or zero. All other cards count as their face value.

If the cards total a two-digit number, the last digit counts as the value of the hand, e.g. 6 + 7 = 13, counts as 3.
All wagers on the PLAYER pay even money, all wagers on the BANKER pay even money minus 5%.
A TIE hand is when the PLAYER total and the BANKER total are the same. One can also bet on the TIE, TIE bets are paid at 8 to 1.

Blackjack

If you have played Pontoon or 21, you'll already know the basics of this easy, fast-paced game.
You play against the dealer and your aim is to reach a score closer to 21 than the dealer, without going over 21 (called going 'bust').

Begin by placing your bet in the empty box nearest to where you are standing or sitting. (If you don't have any chips, place money on the table and our service staff will exchange it for you).

The dealer will deal two cards face up to each player and one to himself.
Count up the value of your two cards, with cards counting at their face value, Jack, King and Queen Cards counting as 10 and Aces counting as either 1 or 11.

If your cards total 21, you have a Blackjack - a combination that pays 3-2 as long as the dealer's first card isn't a 10, face card or ace. (If this happens, you can take a payout of even money as the dealer has the chance of making Blackjack when they draw their second card.)

Or you can make an insurance bet. (This means betting up to half of your original bet, and if the dealer does get Blackjack, you receive payment of 2 to 1.)

If you don't have Blackjack, you have three options. You can either 'stand', or you can draw more cards until you believe your cards total will be closer to 21 than the dealer's. Or if you have a pair of the same value you can split the pair, add an equivalent bet to your first bet and draw extra cards on each pair. Also, if the total of your first two cards is 9, 10 or 11 you may double your original bet and draw only one more card.

If the dealer has a hand of 16 or under he must draw more cards. With a hand of 17 or over he must stand.
If you don't have Blackjack, but beat the dealer, you win even money. If you match the dealer's hand, you retain your original bet.

Roullete

In this easy to understand game of ultimate chance, you bet on which number from 0-36 the roulette ball will land upon. The numbers are colored red or black, with 0 being green. To begin, place your money onto the table, and our service staff will exchange it for chips, with a color or marking that is unique to you.

You can then bet on any individual number or group of numbers, including red or black, odd or even, high or low. To bet on individual numbers (inside bets), you can either place your chips on a number, on the line between two or four numbers, at the end of a row of three or six, or at the end of a column or dozen. The fewer numbers you choose, the greater the pay out if your number comes up, but the lower your chances of winning. You can continue to place bets until the dealer calls 'no more bets'. If you want to place the same bet as another player, simply place your chips on top of theirs.

There are various minimum bets in roulette, for example when you bet on odds or evens, black or red, or high or low, columns or dozens (known as outside bets) there is usually a higher minimum bet, whereas you can bet as little as $1 on single numbers, or groups of numbers. If you're not sure, just ask the dealer.

When the ball lands on a number, the dealer will place a marker on the winning number, remove all losing bets, and pay out the winners with the following odds:
     Any single number - 35-1
     Any two numbers - 17-1
     Any three numbers - 11-1
     Any four numbers - 8-1
     Any six numbers - 5-1
     Columns and dozens - 2-1
Red or black, high or low, odd or even, pays - even money

If 0 is spun, all outside even money bets lose.

Roulette chips can't be used on other tables. When you've finished playing, exchange your roulette chips for normal cash chips.

Caribbean Stud Poker

Jackpot stud poker is based on five-card Poker. You make an Ante bet and receive five cards face down. The Dealer also receives five cards with one turned face up. After looking at your hand, you have two choices:

Fold and surrender your Ante or Stay in the game by making a bet twice the amount of the Ante in the Raise area behind the Ante.

The Dealer then reveals his hand and compares it to each player's. If the Dealer does not have at least ACE-KING, he does not qualify. When the Dealer does not qualify, Raise wagers will be returned to you and Ante wagers paid at even money.

When the Dealer qualifies and beats your hand, the Dealer collects both the Ante and Raise wagers. When the Dealer qualifies and loses to the player, you will win even money on the Ante, the amount paid on the Raise is determined on what hand you hold.

Odds:
     Royal Flush - 250 - 1
     Straight flush - 50-1
     Four of a kind - 20-1
     Full house - 7-1
     Flush - 5-1
     Straight - 4-1
     3 of a kind - 3-1
     2 pairs - 2-1
     Pair - even money
     High card - even money

Jackpot Stud Poker also offers an optional side bet wager. Jackpot payouts are made regardless of whether the Dealer's had has qualified or not, as this bet is not made against the Dealer.

Payout:
Royal flush - 100% of the jackpot meter
Straight flush - 10% of the meter
     4 of a kind - $500
     Full house - $100
     Flush - $50

You may not exchange cards or communicate information concerning your respective hands with other players. It is your responsibility to establish the value of your hand.

Your cards must be in full view at all times. Your hand may be deemed void if your cards are moved below the table.

Incorrect numbers of cards dealt will result in a misdeal being called.
After placing a Raise bet you may not touch your cards.
Any exposed cards will not constitute a misdeal. The Dealer will turn the card over and continue to deal.

You are only allowed to play one hand of Stud Poker per game.

Slots

Thansur Sokha Hotel has a good selection of slot machines, and they are usually changed regularly for added variety. Minimum bets and maximum payouts vary between different machines.

The average slot machine stake starts from as little as 1c and there is often a $20,000 jackpot to be won.

Slot machines are usually worked in the same way - enter cash into the slot, press start, then hold if relevant, and hope that the machine spins the combination with the best payout.

If you're not sure how to work a particular slot machine, ask a member of staff for an introduction.
